\/\/hen the options were written down abby picked Medicine as our topic. specifically, we researched medical knowledge of the time and treatments for wounds and diseases. I suppose the most noticeable images on our quilt square are the two piles of dead bodies. the smaller pile is surrounded by numbers which show the numbers of deaths from certain battles in the war which were most likely caused by weapons. the pile represents people in the war who died from that. the larger pile is surrounded by names of diseases. it represents the people that died from disease in the war. the size difference is a way of telling how twice as many people died from diseases than of gunshots. the ambulance near the top shows how our topic connects to now. ambulances were invented and used very efficiently in that time and we still use them just as efficiently to this day. and possibly the least noticeable thing is the background. we chose red paper to put an emphasis on the strong theme of death.
