Deva artist statement
For our quilt square marina and I had the topic of The election of 1868. We chose to do the map of which states had the bigger percentage of electoral votes. Ulysses S. Grant and Horatio Seymour ran, Horatio Seymour was Democrat, and Ulysses S. Grant was republican. Grant won. He finished Reconstruction and made some laws that made African Americans have more freedom than they did.
