KATIE JIM CROW LAWS MICHAEL

My Quilt piece is based on the Jim Crow laws.  The Jim Crow Laws were enacted 1876-1965.  There wre more than 400 segregational state laws that often separated the Africans and the Americans.  Some of them were:  Nurses:  No person or corporation shall require any white female nurse in wards or rooms in hospitals, either public or private, in which African men are placed. Alabama  Intermarriage:  The marriage of a person of Caucasian blood with and African, Mongolian or other people of color shall be null and void.  Wyoming Arizona Florida Georgia Missouri Mississippi  Barbers:  No colored barber shall serve as a barber o white women or girls.  Georgia  Parks:  It shall be unlawful for colored people to frequently visit andy park owned or maintained by the city for the use and benefit of colored persons.  Georgia  Education:  Separate free schools shall be established for the education to children of African descent; and it shall be unlawful for any colored child to attend any white school, or any white child to attend a colored school.  Texas Florida Mississippi Kentucky Missouri New Mexico  Telephone Booths:  Th Corporation Commission is hereby bested with power and authority to require telephone companies…to maintain separate booths…  Oklahoma  They also couldn't get as many jobs or opportunities in the USA.  These laws effected and effect African/American and their history strongly.  This has strongly tore our nation apart with segregation and separation.  Other laws include Libraries,Transportation, Teaching, Fishing, Boating, and Bathing, Theaters, Railroads, Textbooks, Restaurants, Wine and Beer, circus Tickets and many, many more.
