3rd Quilt square, Artist statement, Miah Middlebrook

Me and Amanda did our 3rd quilt square on African American's in office. The reason we did this topic is because at this time our president is an African American and we thought it would be cool and interesting.
Our quilt square has the American flag as the background and then we had four people there names are Hiram Revels who was the first African American to become senator in the U.S, the next person is Edward Brooke who was the first African American senator chosen by popular votes. The next person is Carol Moseley who was the first female senator that was African American and then of course the last is Barack Obama who was the very first African American president.
