The KKK stands for: Ku Klux Klan. It was started right after the Civil War (1866) when a group of former confederate soldiers got together and formed a "Klan", and that explains how the KKK began. They planned to burn down black schools, homes and churches, because of their racial hatred towards the African Americans.
