Sienna & Rowen, the Compromise of 1877- Dylan's Office

Rowen's Artist Statement-
Our quilt square shows two people shaking hands in agreement to the compromise of 1877 that they made and an american flag below them showing that there still one nation. The Compromise of 1877 was a agreement made by the United States of America saying that all Unions soldiers would be removed from the once confederate states and to appoint a Democrat to the president’s cabinet. This event is important to Quilting the Nations project because it shows that even after the war America could still make agreements that benefited everyone.
