Devlin's and Arturo's artist statement Sarah/Dylan's class

Above is the image of the Springfield rifle model 1861, used during the civil war. I drew the gun and Arturo colored it in. The Springfield was the most used rifle in the civil war, with an effective range of 200 to 300 yards. It was favored for reliability and durability. The picture shows the gun itself and the bullet it used, the .58 caliber minie ball. Understanding the weapons and techniques used in the war helps us understand how it was to live and fight in that war. Guns have come a long way from the civil war, but thats when guns started to get very deadly and accurate.
