Artist statement

My subject is Native Americans during the civil war. The reason I have a native American in confederates out fit shooting a another native American is because this represents the tribes that forte each other that were clamed by the union and confederacy. Because of this civil war there are have the numbers of Native Americans as there were in 1860. This quilt pieces emphasize the tragedy of the civil war not gust on Americans. The bird in the background represents the Native Americans in Canada that were free.
