Fugitive Slave Act, Mikah and Desmond, Michaels office

Artist Statement: This piece is called The Rode Back Home. It’s about the fugitive slave act of 1850. It’s important to notice the two sides freedom and slavery. Freedom represents the north where there are no slaves and slavery represents the south where there is slavery. The slave is in freedom but his owners are pulling him back because that is what the fugitive slave act allows. The Rode Back Home represents the hardships of slavery and how it got harder for the slaves.
