Above is a picture of a Springfeild civil war era rifle. It was the most used rifle on both sides. It could shoot from 200 to 300 yards. That would be three football feilds put together! 1,000,000 were made. It had a rifed barrel and fired a .58 caliber maine ball. The second most used rifle in the war was the Enfeild rifle. It used .577 maine balls, which are a little smaller then the Springfeild. It was also used by the british during 1853 to 1867 before the civil war. The lorenz rifle was the third most popular rifle. The quality varyed wildlly from better then the Springfeild to useless as a toy gun. 326,924 were bought during the war.
