Our quilt piece is about Stephan A. Douglas.  He was a politician going against Lincoln.  His actions lead to repeal to the Missouri Compromise of 1820, and leading directly to the creation of the anti-slavery republican party. At first he Defeated Lincoln on the race for the senate seat. But Lincoln won Douglas over the president seat. His real part in the civil war was that he introduced the Kansas-Nebraska act. He was really against slavery. He gave the western land the chance to vote weather they wanted slavery or not.

Me and Christina and Miette did Stephen A. Douglas he was a American politician he was nominated to be president and went up against Abraham Lincoln. Llinocln won the debate.
