Deva's Artist Statement
This piece we made is about
abolitionism, it is as you can see some African American people holding a flag
showing that this is there country too. Abolitionism is a movement that is for
freeing slaves usually by free African Americans.
Alex's Artist Statement:
my quilt piece shows a couple of free African American slaves being free.and one of the slaves is holding an American flag.this piece shows the freedom of slaves in America,and how the abolition movement help free African Americans across America!the quilt piece shows one of the biggest events in American history. :D
