Artist Statement Stewart and Desmond
This piece is explaining the differences in music between the north and south. It is showing that the north was rich enough to afford drums. The south wasn’t wealthy enough to afford drums. But they would steal an Indian’s drum or rent one from the Indians. Our piece is called “Rock and Roll” because it involves music. The Knife is also on the piece because in the North because the Drummer boys were only allowed to have musical instruments and in the South they were aloud weapons.
